Shai Shen-Orr is a data scientist specializing in biology.
He received his B.Sc. degree in Information Systems (1999) at the Technion, staying away from Biology as much as he can. As often happens, a twist of fate led him to fall in love with Biology in his senior year and has pursued his interest in it ever since. He received an MSc in Bioinformatics (2002) from the Weizmann Institute of Science and a PhD in Biology (2007) from Harvard University.
This was followed by postdoctoral studies in Systems Immunology at Stanford University, where he was a postdoc and Research Associate (2007-2011), with Prof. Mark Davis and Prof. Atul Butte.
Elina Starosvetsky, PhD

Elina graduated from the School of Pharmacy at Hebrew University. She did her PhD with Dr. Debbie Yablonski at the Faculty of Medicine , Technion. During her graduate studies she studied T-cell migration using advanced methods of molecular biology, immunology and genetics. Elina did a Post-Doc in the NIH center for fertility research at UIUC with Prof. Milan Bagchi. During the Post-Doc she became closely acquainted with mice and studied mechanisms governing mice fertility. Joined Shai Shen-Orr in his effort to revolutionize immunology in Jan. 2012.

Rachelly Normand, PhD Candidate
Rachelly received her B.Sc in Computer Science with emphasis in bioinformatics from the Computer Science Faculty at the Technion in 2011. She then worked two years as a bioinformatician at the Technion Genome Center where she created pipelines for high throughput sequencing data analysis and guided researchers in their sequencing project. She joined the Shen-Orr lab at 2013 where she focuses her research on quantifying the human-mouse cross species gap and developing methods to improve the translation from mouse to human.
